EVENTS

''Before We Call It Behaviour' Positive Behaviour Support Collaboration Event

Join us for Before We Call It Behaviour, a collaborative professional development event exploring what may be happening beneath behaviour before developing a behaviour support plan.

Your Way Disability SA presents…

'Before We Call It Behaviour'

Positive Behaviour Support Collaboration Event

Following the success of 'Making It Land' we are bringing together PBS practitioners, providers, educators, allied health professionals and sector leaders for another practical and collaborative morning.

Special guest Dr Emma Goodall, autism researcher, educator, author and advocate, will be joined by Gemma Cooke, PBS Lead Practitioner, a representative from South Australia’s Restrictive Practices Unit and additional guest speakers to be announced.

About the Event

Behaviour is often the final sign of something deeper.

Before developing strategies or writing a behaviour support plan, we need to pause, recognise the early “yellow flags” and ask better questions about what may be happening for the person.

This session will explore how thoughtful observation, collaboration and individualised approaches can help us better understand behaviour and support more meaningful outcomes.

What You’ll Get Out of It

• Practical insights you can apply in your role
• Strategies for recognising early “yellow flags”
• Guidance on asking better questions before responding to behaviour
• Real world discussion from a Positive Behaviour Support perspective
• Opportunities to connect with other sector professionals

Who It’s For

This event is suitable for:

• PBS practitioners
• Support coordinators and psychosocial recovery coaches
• Allied health professionals
• Disability providers and team leaders
• Educators and professionals supporting people with complex needs

What to Expect

This will be a practical and collaborative session featuring:

• Presentations from experienced speakers
• Real world examples and discussion
• Practical strategies and professional insights
• Opportunities to contribute and ask questions
